About Matt

Matthew Taylor joined ESS in 2010 as an athlete in the inaugural intake of the renowned ESS Athlete Development Program (ADP) to support his athletic pursuits. During his time as an athlete in the ADP he achieved success as a member of the Australian Youth Volleyball training squad and represented Victoria in both Indoor and Beach Volleyball. As he progressed as an athlete through the ADP, Matt successfully secured Football contracts with both Coburg VFL and later with Claremont in the WAFL.

In 2015 Matt transitioned into the Performance Coaching and Mentorship program at ESS to further develop his coaching knowledge and skills and gain valuable practical coaching experience.

Upon completion of the 12 month internship with ESS, Matt moved to Western Australia to pursue a playing contract with the Claremont Football Club. During his time in WA he gained full time work as a Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach in a private facility 30 minutes north of Perth. His position involved overseeing the programming, implementation and development of strength and conditioning programs for over 150 clients including elite level AFLW, Athletics, Triathletes and Basketball athletes.

In 2017, Matt was appointed as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at ESS where he oversees the delivery of the Athlete Development Program and manages the ongoing development of his Strength and Conditioning team. This role involves the design and delivery of results based programs to elite and developing athletes and individuals looking to improve performance.

Combining the knowledge he acquired through is Bachelor Degree in Exercise Sport Science, his theoretical and practical knowledge and skills gained through the ESS program as both an athlete and intern and his extensive industry experience, Matt has a strong and unique skill set that enables him to develop results based programs for his athletes and clients. He is highly committed to achieving excellence within the industry and is a valuable member of our team.
